University Ranking

Macquarie Institution is a Sydney, Australia-based public research university that was established in 1964. In terms of Macquarie University rankings, the university has been placed between 201 and 300 by ARWU Shanghai Ranking for three years in a row, from 2012 to 2020. The ARWU Shanghai ranking chooses to rank universities by taking into account the calibre of academic research they produce and the number of Nobel Prizes their staff has won as part of their ranking methodology rather than taking into account an institution's reputation among academics or employers.

For the year 2023, the university is ranked #195 in the world by QS World University Rankings and #175 in the world by Times Higher Education. While Times Higher Education (THE) accords equal weight to Teaching, Research, and Citations at 30% each, QS places the greatest emphasis on Academic Reputation (40%) followed by Faculty/Student Ratio and Citations per Faculty at 20% each. We can observe that this ranking for both ranking providers is an improvement over its prior ranking. Check out the Macquarie University Admissions 2023 page.

The university was ranked at #207 for 2022 by US News & World Report, which specifically uses global research reputation, regional research reputation, and the number of publications cited (12.5% each) among other ranking parameters, which is also a significant increase from its previous position of #217 in 2021.

Macquarie University is a great university that offers a lot of opportunities. The career services are good, the research and career opportunities are good, the school is ranked in the top 100 universities in Australia and has a good reputation. The other thing I like about it is how it brings people together no matter what your background or education level.

I had the privilege of being accepted into Macquarie University for my undergraduate studies. The campus is gorgeous, and the living expenses are affordable. I loved living on campus, having food and friends close by in an inclusive nature. The faculty were helpful and made sure I was well prepared for school.
