North Carolina State University

The main campus of NC State is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Raleigh Campus has three sub-campuses divided into the Central Campus, South Campus, and North Campus. The campuses are separated by the legendary North Carolina Railroad. The campus has more than 75 research laboratories, the Hill Library, and the award-winning James B. Hunt Jr. Library. 

The Witherspoon Student Centre houses the African American Cultural Centre. NC State is known for its esteemed student traditions, including the Krispy Kreme Challenge. The university supports student housing as freshmen are required to live on campus. NC State has several residence halls equipped with state-of-the-art technology and basic amenities. It also has several residence communities, the Living and Learning Villages.

Residence Halls

Residence halls are close to academic facilities, campus amenities, and leisure activities. The NC State dining halls, regarded as some of the best in the nation, are just a short stroll away. The true college experience includes everything from meeting new people over a game of pool to taking a break in the study area to organising a movie night with your neighbours.

There are 20 housing halls on campus where you can live. The Living and Learning Village residents may have exclusive access to certain structures. Choices below:

Hall-style Buildings

In a conventional hall-style building, the room opens to a corridor connecting to the rest of the floor and has one or more communal bathrooms accessible to all floor inhabitants. Most halls are coed but have sections for each gender. The housekeeping crew daily cleans the communal bathrooms, stairwells, and hallways. These areas are less private than suite-style structures because each room opens to a long hallway.

• Alexander Hall

Global Village students reside at Alexander Hall, which is a short distance from Talley Student Union and directly across the street from Carmichael Complex. A large kitchen and conference room are available to residents. The acronym TOTA, which stands for Tucker, Owen, Turlington, and Alexander, is used by locals to refer to this area of campus.

• Bagwell Hall 

Bagwell Hall is next to Clark Dining Hall, just steps from Pullen Park and the Gregg Museum, and right next to the Quad Commons (formerly Honors Village Commons), which contains a service desk, computer lab, and meeting space. It is one of the four structures that make up the campus's Quad.

• Becton Hall

Becton Hall is near Clark Dining Hall and only a short distance from Pullen Park and the Gregg Museum. It is situated next to the Quad Commons, formerly known as Honors Village Commons, which contains a service desk, computer lab, and meeting space. It is one of the four structures that make up the campus's Quad.

• Berry Hall

Berry Hall is near Clark Dining Hall, Pullen Park, and the new Gregg Museum. It is also close to the Quad Commons (previously Honors Village Commons), which contains a service desk, computer lab, and conference space. It is one of the four structures that make up the campus's Quad.

• Gold Hall

Gold Hall, one of the three structures that make up the Triad on East University, is the only all-male residence hall on the campus. A courtyard and pavilion are shared by the neighbourhood, which also comprises Syme and Welch halls. Pullen Park and the Quad Commons, formerly known as Honors Village Commons, which houses the service desk, are close to Gold Hall.

• Owen Hall

The Carmichael Fitness Center and Holmes Hall, where the 24-hour service desk is situated, are across the street from Owen Hall. The acronym TOTA, which stands for Tucker, Owen, Turlington, and Alexander, is used by locals to refer to this area of campus. The Exploratory Studies Village is housed in Owen Hall, which is exclusively accessible to villagers and their roommates.

• Syme Hall

The Triad on East Campus is made up of three buildings, one of which is Syme Hall. Gold and Welch halls share the neighbourhood's courtyard and pavilion. The College of Education, the College of Design, and the Quad Commons (formerly Honors Village Commons), where the service desk is situated, are all near Syme Hall.

• Tucker Hall

Holmes Hall, where the service desk is situated, and Carmichael Fitness Complex are nearby. TOTA, an acronym for Tucker, Owen, Turlington, and Alexander, is the name given to this section of campus by locals. Only villagers and their housemates are permitted to enter Tucker Hall, where the Exploratory Studies Village is located.

• Turlington Hall

Residents of Arts Village live in Turlington Hall, which is close to Holmes Hall, the service desk, and the Carmichael Fitness Center. The acronym TOTA, which stands for Tucker, Owen, Turlington, and Alexander, is used by locals to refer to this campus area. The Inter-Residence Council (IRC) offices are located in Turlington Hall.

• Welch Hall

Welch is one of three structures that make up the Triad on East Campus and is the only exclusively female residence hall at NC State. Gold and Syme halls share the neighbourhood's courtyard and pavilion. Welch Hall is far from Clark Dining Hall, Pullen Park, the Gregg Museum, the Quad Commons (formerly Honors Village Commons), and the service desk.

Suite-style Buildings

In suite-style buildings, there usually are two students per room, and the suitemates and their guests are the only ones who use the shared restroom. Suites may accommodate eight to fourteen students and are gender-specific. Housekeeping employees regularly clean the bathroom. Compared to hall-style buildings, suites provide a more private, cosy ambience.

• Bowen Hall

Bowen Hall, along with Carroll and Metcalf halls, makes up one-third of the area known as the Tri-Towers, which is conveniently situated in the centre of campus close to the Talley Student Union and Carmichael Complex. Holmes Hall houses the Central Campus service counter.

• Bragaw Hall

The EcoVillage is located in a section of Bragaw Hall, which features one of the country's biggest installations of energy-efficient LED lighting. There are two communal kitchens, two lounges, a conference room, pool and foosball tables, a sand volleyball court, and study rooms for residents. The Student Health Center, Fountain Dining Hall, and Witherspoon Student Center are close to Bragaw. Bragaw Hall houses the West Campus service desk.

• Carroll Hall

Carroll Hall takes up one-third of the area known as the Tri-Towers and is conveniently situated in the centre of campus, steps away from Talley Student Union and Carmichael Fitness Complex. Holmes Hall houses the Central Campus service counter.

• Lee Hall

Doak Field in Dail Park, the site of NC State baseball, the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center and Fountain Dining Hall are all close to Lee Hall. In close proximity to Bragaw Hall is the West Campus service desk.

• Metcalf Hall

One-third of the Tri-Towers area is made up by Metcalf Hall and is conveniently situated in the centre of campus, steps away from Talley Student Union and Carmichael Fitness Complex. Holmes Hall houses the Central Campus service counter.

• Sullivan Hall

Doak Field in Dail Park, the site of NC State baseball, as well as the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center and Fountain Dining Hall, are all close by to Sullivan Hall. Near Bragaw Hall is the West Campus service desk.

• Watauga Hall

For upper-class students (sophomores and above), Watauga Hall is a historical structure that provides a variety of room arrangements, including single rooms. The Belltower, Hillsborough Street, North Hall, the Court of North Carolina, and the College of Design are close to Watauga Hall. 

• Wood Hall

In addition to having a community service desk, Wood Hall is conveniently positioned close to the Talley Student Union, Case Dining Hall, Carmichael Fitness Complex, Dail Soccer Field and Track Complex, and Talley Student Union.

Hotel-style Buildings

A room with a bathroom is shared by two students. People congregate in a common area next to the service desks for academic and social events.

• Avent Ferry

Avent Ferry Complex is a hotel-style housing option close to Avent Ferry Road and Western Boulevard. It consists of five structures with port-related names from North Carolina, one of which is devoted to the Black Male Initiative. Swan Quarter Hall's foyer houses the service desk and computer lab. There is a private bathroom in each room.

• North Hall

North Hall is one of two hotel-style living alternatives and is conveniently situated on Hillsborough Street across from the Belltower. In addition to meeting space for events on the top level, the lobby also houses a service desk and a computer lab. There is a private bathroom in each room.

Apartment Options

The comfort and convenience of the own apartment with the convenience of dorm life. Living in an on-campus apartment gives you independence and access to community and university resources. Choices are:

• Wolf Ridge Apartments

Students interested in entrepreneurship work and play in NC State's only LEED Silver-certified green community. You can take advantage of outdoor dining and study spaces, convenient access to the Wolfline and a brief bicycle ride to the Wolf Ridge NC Farmer's Market, which is close to the cutting-edge Hunt Library.

• Wolf Village Apartments

You may enjoy all the benefits of apartment living close to Western Boulevard at Wolf Village. Access to university resources, study spaces, resident advisors, a fitness centre, and volleyball fields are all available to you. The campus's academic buildings and Fountain Dining Hall are only a short distance away by foot, bicycle, or bus.

• E.S. King Village Apartments

E.S. King Village is a varied, ethnic neighbourhood that offers more than just a place to sleep. You share your residence with graduate students, non-traditional undergraduates, visiting faculty, and academics. In the community garden or on the tennis, basketball, or volleyball courts, get to know your neighbours and make new friends.

• Western Manor Apartments

With graduate and postdoctoral students, faculty, and staff employees as neighbours, Western Manor offers a peaceful neighbourhood close to the Main and Centennial campuses. The Wolfline, GoRaleigh, and GoTriangle buses are nearby and easily accessible. High-speed internet and cable are included.

Off-Campus Accommodation

These two-bedroom furnished townhomes are conveniently situated 0.5 miles from CMAST. Apartments come furnished with a modern sofa, lounge chair, dinette table, four chairs, refrigerator, stove, and oven. Four students can stay in our two-bedroom apartments, which have extra-long twin beds, dressers, and built-in wardrobes.
