The University of Toronto was established in 1827 as the King's College and adopted its current name in 1850. It is a collegiate university with eleven colleges and is the oldest in the province of Ontario. Over the years, the University of Toronto (U of T) has consistently been included among the top universities. The institute's position on the list of top universities in the world has gotten better over time.
The University of Toronto is currently ranked 17th by the US News & World Report for the year 2021. This is an improvement above its previous rankings of 20 in 2017 and 18 for 2019 and 2020.
